ITV Saturday gets under way here with a Listed race for 3yo+ over 1m2f. CADILLAC should be hard to beat here for Kevin Phillipart de Foy and Jack Mitchell. Despite giving weight away my hope comes here in great form having chased home Dubai Future in the Wolferton Stakes at Royal Ascot. This trip and ground are ideal and he seems to have thrived since moving over from Ireland. You would think Grocer Jack would want softer ground. Cadillac goes well on fast ground and was once fourth in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf!

ITV also go jumping Saturday for this handicap hurdle over 2m7f. JERSEY WONDER kept on well against re-opposing Galileo Silver at Ffos Las last time and can reverse the form at these weights. Johnny Burke’s mount stays all day and should go well for Oliver Sherwood.

A handicap over an extended 2m. RESHOUN won a similar race to this at Newbury for this column in 2019 at 14-1 and he’s worth another eachway punt here for Ian Williams and Jim Crowley. My selection is in great form after two huge runs at Royal Ascot in the Queen Alexandra and Ascot Stakes. Ground and trip are ideal the only concern is the handicap mark is high enough.

Another handicap hurdle here over an extended 2m. I like the look of GALATA BRIDGE here for Dr Richard Newland and Sam Twiston-Davies. My hope is up 12lb for a fine victory at Huntingdon last time but he looked improving that day and after just fifteen races might have more to offer.

This is the Group 3 Hackwood Stakes for 3yo+ over 6f. A decent renewal. ROHAAN was sensational at Royal Ascot and while he might not get the same pace to run at here I’ll stick with him. Hollie Doyle gets the ride on the Dave Evans speedball and the Wokingham success was just top class. Off a mark of 115 here and getting a bit of weight from some he must have each-way claims.

A handicap chase over an extended 2m5f. A wide open renewal. FRANCKY DU BERLAIS is not thrown in for Peter Bowen and son James but has class and will be hard to keep out the frame even carrying 12st. My hope was a fine third in the Summer Cup at Uttoxeter and if repeating that should be a big player.

Now the Super Sprint for juveniles over 5f. No reason to oppose MARIA BRANWELL for David O’Meara and Kieran Showmark. A weight of 8st 11lb looks lovely for a horse who was third to Dramatised in the Queen Mary at Royal Ascot after a fine success at Sandown. Some of these will improve but provided stall 11 is not bad news she should take all the beating.

Newbury 13:50 – Cadillac Market Rasen 14:06 – Jersey Wonder Newbury 14:21 – Reshoun (each way) Market Rasen 14:41 – Galata Bridge Newbury 14:56 – Rohaan (each way) Market Rasen 15:14 – Francky Du Berlais Newbury 15:30 – Maria Branwell
